We love it when our parents join in on the fun! Helping Hands was created by Bracken parents to uphold the school in prayer, foster community, and serve our school family for the glory of God.
If you’d like to be a part of serving on campus (in big ways or small), please reach out!

The fun doesn’t have to stop at dismissal! If you are a working parent or just need a little extra time to make it back on campus to pick up your kiddo, consider being a part of our After-School Care Program.
After-school care is provided from 3:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., Monday through Friday for children whose parents work beyond regular school hours. There is no after-school care provided on half days of school. Charges are rounded up to the nearest quarter hour of attendance.
A snack will be provided each day at no additional charge. If you prefer, you are welcome to send a snack with your student(s). If the weather is too hot or too cold or if it is raining, the children will be inside the building.
Pick-up will be either from the playground or the downstairs elementary hallway.
Much like the idea of S.A.L.T., our L.I.G.H.T. Program (Lead, Inspire, Guide, Honor, Teach) is led by the Varsity Basketball Lady Warriors. In an effort to cultivate a program of incredible athletes both on and off the court, this program aims to cultivate a love for the game early on and empower our awesome 5th grade girls through mentorship and encouragement.
Bracken students are given the unique opportunity to escape from their everyday routine as they travel out into the beautiful Texas countryside. While there, they seek Christ through the value of Christian fellowship as they are led by leaders in the Senior class. Students participate in fun activities meant to build character, strengthen bonds, and allow them the chance to meet new friends! Students and staff also cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus in praise and worship every evening giving all the chance to give their lives to Him.
Bracken sets aside certain days throughout the year for our middle school and high school students to step outside the gates of our campus and serve others in need. Whether it is packaging meals at a food shelter, playing cards with the elderly, or just picking up trash along the highway, we are grateful to connect with our community by being the hands and feet of Jesus.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) officially established the NHS in 1921. Though many local and regional honor societies existed prior to 1921, no nationwide organization had been founded. Under the leadership of Dr. Edward Rynearson, principal of the Fifth Avenue High School in Pittsburgh, the organization grew from the original Alpha Chapter at the Fifth Avenue School to more than 1,000 chapters by 1930. Equipped with a constitution, an emblem and motto, and a group of dedicated principals as coordinators, the new NHS organization quickly developed into one of the country’s leading educational groups.
The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception.
The first chapter was established in the lower grades of the Webster Groves High School in Missouri. The first charter to a junior high school was granted to Clarinda Junior High School in Iowa. Equipped with a constitution, an emblem and motto, and a group of dedicated principals as coordinators, the new NJHS organization quickly developed into one of the country’s leading educational groups.
Five main purposes have guided chapters of NJHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; to encourage responsible citizenship; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. These purposes also translate into the criteria used for membership selection in each local chapter.
One of our greatest joys at Bracken is coming together to worship with one voice. Chapels, special programs, and community outreaches are all opportunities for our praise team students to lead our campus into worship. Both middle school and high school students can audition and interview for praise team. For more information about how to get involved, please reach out to [email protected].
Bracken’s S.A.L.T. (Servants And Leaders Together) program is a mentoring opportunity for middle and high school students to share their lives, experiences, and love with BCS elementary students. Throughout the year, S.A.L.T. partners exchange gifts, notes of encouragement, and enjoy special school events together.
Bracken Christian School supports the Texas Association of Student Councils and the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals in its goal to develop leadership abilities in students, promote democracy as a way of life, and establish and uphold high standards for local councils.
Student Council members represent their class in activities and also support school-wide activities. Some of these activities include sponsoring events such as the annual Veteran’s Day Chapel, collections for deployed soldiers, and Bracken HOCO Spirit Week.
If you have any other questions, please email [email protected].
