Academic & College Advising

At Bracken Christian School, we believe high school is more than just academics—it’s a season of growth, discovery, and preparation for the future God has planned. Our Academic and College Advisor walks alongside each student, guiding them in both knowledge and faith while helping them uncover their God-given gifts. From course planning to college readiness, we partner with families to ensure students are equipped for success beyond graduation. Together, we are building a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and purpose.

Academic & College Advising

At Bracken Christian School, our faculty and staff are committed to helping students discover and pursue the plan God has for their lives. We provide the knowledge, tools, and support students need to thrive in high school, prepare for college, and confidently step into their future.

Academic Advising
Our Academic & College Advisor works closely with our high school students, offering individualized guidance on course selection, graduation requirements, and college planning. Students are encouraged to take a rigorous curriculum that meets both Bracken’s standards and college entrance requirements.

Testing
Students begin standardized testing in 8th grade with the PSAT and continue with the SAT junior and senior year.  The ACT exam is offered to our  juniors and seniors. We recommend that all juniors take the SAT and ACT to prepare for college admissions.

College Selection & Application
Through a combination of in-class meetings, one-on-one counseling, both students and parents gain valuable insight into college options and the application process.Opportunities throughout each year include a College and Career Fair featuring around 40 representatives and multiple college tours to help students decide where they want to continue their academic journey.

College Scholarship Support

Students receive guidance on finding and applying for scholarships at the national, state, local, and university levels. We provide resources and support to help students take full advantage of scholarship opportunities.

College Visits

Spring is a great time for sophomores and juniors to schedule campus visits. To make the most of your visit:

  • Explore the college’s website ahead of time to learn about appointments and tours.
  • "Demonstrated interest" is an important piece to the college admission process so be sure to take advantage of our campus tours.
  • Remember the purpose of a college visit is for you to get information and a feeling for the university. Prepare questions so you will be ready for your visit.

Class Ranking

Bracken Christian School does not rank students outside of the valedictorian and salutatorian. In a small private school, comparing students by rank to those at larger schools isn’t equitable. For scholarships and college applications, we use the following GPA scale:

  • 4.0 Grading Scale
  • Honors Classes: add +0.6 to GPA
  • Dual Credit: add +1.0 to GPA

Graduation Requirements | Prepared. Equipped. Ready to Graduate.
