History of our Campus

In 1982, the Lord impressed upon the heart of one of his precious servants to start a school in her home.

This was the beginning of Bracken — six children learning about the love of Jesus in sweet Betty Kight’s living room. Her vision was to establish a school where students could be equipped to impact the world for Jesus Christ, and that’s exactly what she did.

Lord, I am here for any way you can use me.

Out of obedience, Betty taught her heart out and the Lord kept bringing more families. While the school's reputation and enrollment grew, Mr. Sam Bracken stepped into the story by providing a generous donation to help the school grow even more. In honor of Mr. Bracken’s gift of land and buildings to establish a proper campus, the school took on his name in 1984. Bracken Christian School has since been located on 23 tree-filled acres nestled in the small town community of Bulverde/Spring Branch.

Years later, the need for more buildings and larger facilities was met by one of our very own families, Mike and Ann Parham. All three of their children graduated from Bracken. Mike is now with the Lord, however, Ann continues to bless the Bracken community. The Parhams played an integral part in paving the way for Bracken to continue to grow.

The Lord started telling a story over 40 years ago about a school that would change the world one student and soul at a time.

The mission was simple. The vision was clear. The prayer was big. We are grateful for Betty Kight and the humble whisper of her prayer “Lord, I am here for any way you can use me.”

…and so the story continues, and oh how we look forward to seeing the Lord unfold chapter after chapter, for His name’s sake.
