Bracken Christian School has even more to celebrate in our 10 years of football!
The 2017 San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game players were announced, and guess what Bracken fans? We are proud to announce that you will have the opportunity to cheer our own Brady Beene to victory in the infamous East vs. West game on January 7th, 2017!
For 39 years, the San Antonio All-Star Football Game has served as a celebration of successful high school football careers. This year is no different as 108 seniors representing 60 high schools have been chosen for the game.
Not only is it an honor for Brady to be selected from hundreds of nominees, our Brady Beene was the only six-man player chosen to participate with the Who's Who in 11-man football.
The son of Jerry & Johnna Beene, Brady is an Alpha Omega, a term that Bracken Christian has coined for those attending K4/K5 through the 12th grade. He has an older sister who graduated from Bracken as well and who is currently attending Texas A&M University.
Please help me in congratulating Brady Beene for a job well done!!
Bracken parents, John and Camille Wheelock, have served with Dr. Brian Guenther and his wife Christy, who have been involved with an orphanage in Haiti for many years. Dr. Guenther is on faculty at The San Marcos Baptist Academy and he and Christy travel to Port Au Prince often and have adopted a Haitian son. It has been a long time dream of the Guenther family and the Board of Directors of the Haitian orphanage to have a well-run Christian school to serve the children of the orphanage. Christy has been working with them to make this dream a reality and recently returned from Haiti, where she helped to establish an official school with teachers and a principal.
Last year, Bracken had several boxes of out of date uniforms and was looking for a program to donate them to. The Wheelock's were asked if they might know of a need for them and gave a resounding "yes"! They delivered the uniforms to the Guenther's last Spring and Christy was able to take them with her on her last trip. Our Bracken uniforms were distributed and the children were thrilled and so proud of their new school uniforms.
