There may be some of you who already have their July 2015-June 2016 calendars and are crossing out days as quickly as they come, like someone trying to win Blackout in a Bingo game! Yet there are others who wonder where the days of summer are going and wish that time would just slow down. No matter which group you fall into, the reality is you need to start thinking about back to school.
Want to make you and your children feel better about the first day of school? Here are some helpful tips:
1) Be prepared – make sure your children have all their immunizations current BEFORE the first day of school.
2) Go to Back to School Night on Monday, August 24th – your children will receive their schedules, meet their teachers and have any other questions answered that you may have. They can also go to their classrooms and drop off their school supplies if they already have them.
3) Tour the Campus – know not only where their classroom is, but also where the office, library, gym, computer class, and bathroom is.
4) Teachers will probably not count you tardy the first week but try to start adjusting their sleeping schedule a week early.
5) Talk to your child about dropping off and picking up – maybe do a trial run. All 5th grade students are Safety Patrol and will bring your child to you (K4-1st) if you choose our Drive Through option.
To help you with uniforms, you can stop by the Elementary Office, Monday-Thursday, from 9am-3pm and check out the Uniform closet. If you are unable to drop by, please go online to https://www.parkersu.com/ or visit:

We want the start of the school year to be fun and stress free. So whether you are still planning a vacation or whether you are already buying school supplies and checking the list twice, we are grateful you have chosen Bracken Christian School and we are looking forward to partnering with you this fall.
This recent song by Francesca Battistelli reflects what Bracken Christian School has been experiencing lately: more awareness of His presence and His goodness. The atmosphere during the summer months have been exhilarating, refreshing, and flooded with love as our campus has been busy preparing for the new school year.
Staff, teachers and parents have been coming together to offer their time to help beautify the campus, volunteer to help coach, and encourage our students to participate in all sorts of summer activities, both on and off campus. We are blessed to have a campus that provides multiple activities during the summer. Our Summer Day Camps, Volleyball Camps, Elementary/MS Football Camps have been successful and we look forward to our 4th Annual Rummage Sale on August 1st.
Yes, we are excited about the new school year but we are more excited about how the Holy Spirit has filled this place with His presence. You can feel it when you first walk on the campus, you can feel it when you look at the majestic oak trees surrounding our campus, you can feel it when you approach our vast athletic field with the well manicured grass, you can feel it when you speak to anyone who is volunteering their time. We are overcome.
Holy Spirit (Chorus) by Francesca Battistelli
Holy Spirit, You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord

It's hard to think that school will be starting soon...we just started summer! When it comes to scheduling appointments however, it's the right time. Summer time is the busiest time for doctor appointments and waiting too long for vaccinations can delay your children from returning to school or even starting.
Why are vaccinations important?
School-age children, from preschoolers, to middle schoolers, to college students, need vaccines.
Simply, immunizations saves millions of lives and prevents illness and lifelong disability in millions more. Many childhood diseases are now preventable by vaccines. Only a few decades ago this was not the case. It often resulted in hospitalization, death or lifelong consequences. Amazingly, without immunizations, serious outbreaks of many of the diseases can reoccur.
The 2015-2016 Texas Minimum State Vaccine Requirements for Students Grades K-12 have been released and can be found here. As legislatively-mandated by §97.63 of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), the immunization requirements for Texas students have been updated. No new vaccines are required for the upcoming school year.
