My name is Michael Forgione, and I am excited to be a part of the teaching faculty and athletic staff here at Bracken Christian School; a school that holds a special place in my life.
I was born in College Station, Texas, to a family of proud Aggies. My father is a college professor, so we travelled often and spent many years living in different states, until returning to Texas in 2006. I started high school at Castle Hills First Baptist School in San Antonio. Through a series of events, God brought about a change in my schooling and I found myself beginning my junior year at Bracken Christian School. Bracken became a place where my faith blossomed, my maturity grew, and I made close friends that I still spend time with regularly.
I graduated from Bracken as class of 2010, and I proudly followed in my family’s footsteps to Texas A&M University to pursue a career as a physical therapist. During my time as a student, God brought about another change in my life, bringing me to change my major and to focus on a career that more directly pursued my passions of people and sports. I have been involved with athletics since the day that I could walk; playing youth & high school soccer for 12 years, semi-professional paintball for 9 years, high school track & field for 3 years, and high school football for 2 years. Nothing brings me greater joy than being part of a team and working toward success.
As class of 2014, I graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sport Management, and a minor in Business Administration. I knew that I wanted to contribute to raising strong Christian leaders, and I knew that I wanted to coach athletics, but I did not know how to get there. Out of college, I received several excellent job offers from different businesses, but I knew that none of them would take me to where I wanted to go. Unsure of what to do next, God opened up a brief opportunity for me at San Antonio Christian Schools as an Assistant Track & Field coach. It was there that God showed me His plan and fueled my interest in teaching and coaching youth & high school students.
Once God led me in the direction of teaching and coaching, I enrolled in the Texas Education Agency Teacher Certification program and I am currently working toward obtaining my TEA Certification. Shortly thereafter I found myself back at Bracken discussing work, this time as an adult, not as a student behind a desk. I am privileged to be here at Bracken with the fantastic staff that has changed my life in so many ways. I hope that I can contribute to the lives of students in the same way that my teachers did for me not so long ago.
