What better way to get to know Bracken then by blog posts by our very own students!
On occasion we will have guest bloggers who will talk about what is currently happening on campus from their viewpoint. Here is our very first blogger - well done!
Welcome to Bracken 2015
By: Michael Ray
Summer came and went this year. I can definitely say it went because high school sports start in early August and it feels a bit like school has practically started already. Other than wondering what happened to my summer vacation, I came to the school year with tons of excitement. I knew that it would kind of a wild card this year, new students (one out of four students was new this year), new teachers and staff, just a very new year at Bracken. I must say though, it has been a great start for the school year.
I have found myself really enjoying being involved in the Bracken Student Life, which is a very easy way to be a part of your school. Instead of just sitting at your house playing Xbox or watching Netflix all evening, why don’t you go out and support the Bracken football or volleyball games? I find it as a great way to socialize with friends, enjoy a good game, and support your school all at the same time. I realize as a cross-country runner that my meets are far away and tough to watch but you can enjoy supporting our football and volleyball teams. They will really enjoy your support at their games.
For high school students, whether or not you think you have time to go to the student council and run for office, this year you don’t have to. High school student council is an open meeting this year and you can find out what is going on at your school and give your ideas on what you would like to do. Go out there and share your ideas and be your voice at the student council meetings. When I went to the student council meeting, we helped plan Spirit Week and I can tell you, it will be really exciting.
Also, High School Camp is coming up on September 24 - 26 and will be followed by Middle School Camp on September 30 - October 3. Camp is not something that you want to miss. It is also a great time to get to know other students and spend some time away from doing homework and classwork.
A lot has been going on at Bracken this year and I am sure that you would love to be a part of it. So welcome (or welcome back) to Bracken and have a blessed year.
