BCS SCRIP: Program

   Let me tell you about a program called SCRIP. I hesitate calling it a fundraiser because it is actually a change in the way that you will shop. In addition to having the potential to make our school an enormous amount of money it can act as a budgeting tool for your monthly purchase of food, gas and merchandise. This fundraiser will not cost you any additional money. Too good to be true? So what is this SCRIP?

The easiest way to describe SCRIP is to compare it to a gift certificate to your favorite grocery store, shop, gas station, etc. You use SCRIP like cash.

How does scrip make money for our school? The Great Lakes Script Center purchases these gift certificates in bulk, receiving a discount of 2 - 22%, depending on the merchant. Great Lakes Scrip then passes on the discount to our school. Our school has the potential to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, depending on how many families participate in the program and how frequently they purchase SCRIP.

Are there any hidden fees or expenses? NO. The only additional expense is a small fee for mailing the SCRIP to our school, and that is paid for out of the profit that we make.

How do we order SCRIP?  Forms will be available in the office or downloaded here. Orders are to be turned in by Tuesday before 8:30 a.m. each week. You can pay for scrip by cash, check and in "some instances" by credit card (Master Card or Visa). A bulk order is then submitted to Great Lakes Scrip.  They in turn will mail out the SCRIP to the school. When we receive the SCRIP, usually on Thursday, you will be able to pick it up in the afternoon at the office. We can send it home with your child upon request.  A supply of HEB $25.00 and $100.00 cards are kept in the office for your convenience. 

Who can purchase SCRIP? Just about anyone can. Get your friends, relatives, neighbors, businesses and co-workers to support our school by purchasing scrip. They need not have a child at Bracken but simply a desire to help the school.

When will we be able to start purchasing SCRIP? We usually start the program by September 10th and continue it throughout the school year.

The success of this fundraiser depends on you and all of the families at Bracken. Please pray for its success in providing Bracken Christian School with additional revenue needed in enhancing your child's education.
