As in previous years, it is always a delight for me to share with the Bracken families the success of our graduating class. Although I place this information in the College Newsletter, the entire school does not have the opportunity to recognize and congratulate our seniors. The seniors have spent considerable effort searching, praying, seeking advice, and applying to universities. This is the list of our seniors indicating where they have been accepted, where they have decided to attend, and any scholarship awards they may have received up to this point.
Many of our students could attend more prestigious schools, but they choose to attend smaller Christian universities. I want you to understand that my particular philosophical stand is for Christian education at the college level. This is the first time that a student is truly independent, making decisions without daily parental input, and the first time many of them are truly faced with a one-on-one relationship with God. It is the time most young people make a firm commitment to follow Jesus Christ independent of their parents and their friends. I whole-heartedly support any student that wants to attend a secular school, but I do advise and counsel them concerning the conditions and atmosphere of a secular campus versus a Christian campus.
In the past, our graduates have received scholarship awards

varying from $1,000 to a full-ride tuition, room and board. Our graduates are attending such schools at Texas A&M at College Station, Southern Nazarene University, Oklahoma Baptist University, John Brown University, University of Tennessee, Southwest Texas University, Abilene Christian University, Liberty University, University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Messiah University, Pensacola Christian University, Dallas Baptist University, Hardin Simmons University, University of North Texas, Criswell College, Stephen F. Austin, University of Texas at San Antonio, and Houston Baptist University. Many of our students express a distinct desire to stay closer to home and be able to see their families on a more regular basis. This is reflected in the proximity of the schools attended. I pray that this information is confirmation to you that our graduates do attend excellent universities and do receive various amounts of financial support.
